Heat detectors can be categorized as fixed temperature, rate compensation or rate-of-rise design and may be spot or line type.
The
600 Series Heat Detectors are attractive, durable and feature
combination rate-of-rise and fixed temperature operation. The 600
Series heat detectors are available in 135°F(57°C) and 200°F
(93°C) temperature ratings. Rate-of-rise detects heat by
quickly responding to a rapid temperature increase. Rate-of-rise
units have a wide spacing allowance of 50-foot centers. See
specification table for details. Fixed temperature reacts
to heat by responding to a specific temperature setting.
The 600 Series detectors use the same reliable pneumatic
rate-of-rise element of former models, but offer added aesthetic
appeal.
The pneumatic rate-of-rise element responds to a rapid rise in
temperature, approximately 15°F (8°C) per minute, by expansion of
air within the sealed chamber faster than it can escape through a
calibrated vent. The resultant increase in pressure depresses the
diaphragm, causing the electrical contact to close the
circuit. The fixed temperature element uses a fusible
alloy. When activated, the external heat collector drops
away to provide quick visual confirmation that the element has
operated. The units protrude only 1-3/8 inch from the
ceiling surface with a junction box mounting. They have pleasing
contours and an all-white finish that conforms to ceiling
aesthetics.
The CR and CF-MP Series Moisture Proof Detectors are designed for hazardous locations and Moisture Proof
applications. Each Moisture Proof detector is available in single
or multiple circuits with open and/or closed contact
configurations, and any of the fixed temperature settings
including 135, 165, 200 and 285 degrees Farenheit.
The Moisture Proof detector is characterized by a black
phenol-plastic seal plate and black and white pigtail
connections. It is specified for use in high humidity
environments and areas that are subject to corrosive elements or
spray washing. The suffix “MP” denotes “Moisture Proof”.
CR-135MP
The Model CR-135MP is a combination Rate-of-Rise and Fixed
Temperature detector. A set of normally open contacts will
close when the ceiling temperature increases at a (minimum) rate
of 8.4°C (15°F) per minute. Closing the contacts initiates
the fire alarm sequence. Independent of the rate-of-rise
operation, the fixed temperature portion consists of a
spring-loaded plunger retained by a fusible alloy that releases
when the ceiling temperature reaches 135°F (57°C). When
released, the plunger strikes the contacts and holds them
closed. Spacing on an uninterrupted ceiling is 70 ft.
(21.3m) for the rate-of-rise; 40 ft. (12.2m) for the fixed
temperature portion.
CF-135MP
The Model CF-135MP is a Fixed Temperature Only detector. The
fixed temperature portion consists of a spring-loaded plunger
retained by a fusible alloy that releases when the ceiling
temperature reaches 135°F (57°C). When released, the
plunger strikes a normally open set of contacts and holds them
closed. Spacing on an uninterrupted ceiling is 40 ft.
(21.3m). The CF-135MP is identified by a black dot on its
heat collector fin.
CR-200MP
The Model CR-200MP is a combination Rate-of-Rise and Fixed
Temperature detector that operates in the same way as the
CR-135MP, with the exception that the fixed temperature portion
releases when the ceiling temperature reaches 200°F (93°C).
Spacing on an uninterrupted ceiling is 70 ft. (21.3) for the
rate-of-rise, and 25 ft.(7.6m) for the fixed temperature portion
(a reduced spacing parameter from the CF-135MP). The
CR-200MP is identified by a white dot on its heat collector fin.
CF-200MP
The Model CF-200MP is a Fixed Temperature Only detector.
The fixed temperature portion releases when the ceiling
temperature reaches 200°F (93°C). Spacing is 25 ft.,
(7.6m). The CF-200MP is identified by a black dot and a
white dot on the heat collector fin.
The
5451 plug-in heat detectors are
designed to meet the performance
criteria designated by UL/ ULC.
Additional key features include a
recessed mounting option, interchangeable
ion, photo, or thermal detectors, a variety of
mounting bases, and a full line of optional accessories.
The 5451 thermal rate-of-rise with fixed heat detector contains a
unique dual thermistor heat sensing circuit to
provide maximum performance and solid
state reliability. The 5451 is designed to initiate an
alarm at 57°C (135° F) and to respond to an increase in excess of
8°C (15°F) per minute.
This enables the heat detector to communicate an alarm to the
central control panel prior to reaching the static set point for
these high rates of rise, providing a timely response to both
rapid and slow temperature increases. This model should be used
in applications where rapid response is desired and where
rapid temperature increases would only be caused by a fire
emergency.
The 5451 detector appears the same as a conventional two wire
smoke detector to the fire panel; this requires that the 5451
heat detector be connected to a smoke detector circuit from the
fire alarm control panel.
Addressable heat detectors appear similar to the 5451 series.
Model MRI-5251B uses an innovative
thermistor sensing circuit to produce 135°F fixed
temperature detection in a low profile package. These
thermal detectors provide cost effective, intelligent
property protection in a variety of applications.
Model MRI-5251RB provides both 135°F
fixed and rate-of-rise thermal detection.
These thermal detectors provide cost effective, intelligent
property protection in a variety of applications.
Model MRI-5251H provides 190°F (88°C)
fixed temperature detection for high temperature
applications.
